BRAD Posted December 13, 2008 Report Posted December 13, 2008 HelpI have a 2003 1.9tdi ghia and heater blowers have stopped also heated front and rear screen. Fuse 19 blowing, so trying to track the cause, i think it may be heated front screen causing the problem but cant find main fuse for it, owners manual says it is 73 but fuses only go to 62 in fuse box.Does anyone know where to find it or where power connects to screen as its not on the bottom. Thanks Quote
Bigjeeze Posted December 13, 2008 Report Posted December 13, 2008 The fuse box is in layers - it amy be underneath the main one - There are also fuses under the bonnet. Quote
big_kev Posted December 13, 2008 Report Posted December 13, 2008 Fuse 73 is in with the relays, top right is F74 the one below it is F73.Enjoy the experience of getting to them...lol. The power connects to the screen at the bottom left and right, hidden behind the dash. F19 could be a number of things....most likely Heated Rear window but could be a dodgy relay.Difficult to pin that one down. Quote
BRAD Posted December 13, 2008 Author Report Posted December 13, 2008 Thank.. that helps,if ive got to go there i could pull out heated front screen relay. I think it could be this as its not heating all the screen and when connected to vag com it had a fault. Quote
big_kev Posted December 13, 2008 Report Posted December 13, 2008 A pic always helps.....hope this is correct, Fuse & Relay in Red Quote
BRAD Posted December 14, 2008 Author Report Posted December 14, 2008 Thanks.. but how do you get to that ??? i have stripped the bottom of the dash down and i have it so i can still use the car as is.But cant see the fuses or the relay at the back or are they hidden in the fuse board ???.Sorry for being a pain. mk2vr6 Posted December 14, 2008 Report Posted December 14, 2008 your going about this arse about face! why are you diving straight into the fuse board when you have yet to narrow down the root of the problem? its way easier to isolate the possible source of the problem and remove that from the circuit in question than strip down the fuse panel and still be none the wiser to the actuall fault! you seem so sure the front screen is the problem? why not just start there and work your way back to the fuse board? the connections are up behind the trim panels on the A posts either side of the screen, the ground terminal is above the rear veiw mirror, the rear screen is a known cause of problem due to the wires flexing as are the door looms which contain the cables for the heated mirror feeds! which you've over looked  as well as the heated washer jets! again on the same circuit! BRAD Posted December 15, 2008 Author Report Posted December 15, 2008 Thanks for the help.As i didnt know where the connection to the front screen are, i was just going to pull out the main fuse for the screen as i thought this would be the best way to isolate the screen, didnt know it was going to be so difficut to get to.I have also pulled the main fuse to the rear screen 51 and the fuse 19 is still blowing.Havent looked at heated water jet yet or the blowers as i assume the front and rear are on fuse 19.But as stated before part of the screen is not heating and there was a fault on the screen in vag com Quote
